I didn’t want to work with Karen.

I didn’t want to work with Karen. I didn’t want to work with anyone.

I like to blame it on my wife that I hired Karen to be my coach.

In my very first conversation with Karen I knew that I had just met the person who was here to shake up my world.

But I wanted to stay in comfort in my habits, patterns, stories, and choices. Karen challenged me to share with my wife why I didn’t want to do the work. Long story short, we worked together for a year.

What I came away with was a way of being with all of who I am including the parts I love, the parts I don’t love, and the parts I hide away from the world.

Karen often referred to the necessity of integrating all of who I am while my default behavior was to ignore the parts of me that were damaged and broken.

I pushed back on this work, and in the end, surrendering to all of who I am and creating peace in my life has been transformational. I love deeply, relate truthfully, and honor the parts of me that helped me to be who I am.

If you are anything like me and you believe that taking a look at who you are will summon your boogie man, hire Karen.

You’ll surprise yourself by choosing to become unapologetically you.

And who knows? You might even fall in love with your boogieman!
